FERNANDA CHIECO | GALERIA LAURA MARSIAJ
03.04.2012
Opening April 3rd

For the past ten years, Fernanda Chieco has developed artworks mainly based on experiences abroad and in her home country. She has participated in exhibitions in Brazil and abroad and art residency programs in South Korea, UK, Ireland and Czech Republic.

The major focus of her research as an overall basis is human behaviors related to rules of survival in communities and the arousal of eventual narratives that constitute absurdities of human life.

As for the process of work, by making use of her meticulous way of misunderstanding things she creates pseudo-theories that could be perfectly plausible for anyone to comprehend. Thus she plays the role an anti-scientist, mainly focused in misleading pre-established ideas into hypothesis that could unfold into new ways of understanding things. Although her main practice is drawing, she also makes objects, videos and installation works.
