KRISTIN CAPP | EXHIBITION HORSES LATITUDES
June 4th to June 28th
Franco Namibian Cultural Center

The Horse Latitudes is a work in progress that Capp began shooting in early 2011. It consists of photographs from different regions of Namibia and is a tapestry of black & white images assembled into an emotional narrative.

The title “horse latitudes” refers to subtropical latitudes 30 degrees to the north & south of the equator, where winds are known to becalm ships mid-ocean for weeks at a time. As a recurring metaphor in this evolving series, these latitudes represent a change in the experience of time and make reference to the location where the photographs are made: in Namibia.
